Flipkart Expands Grocery Operations with New Fulfilment Center in Karnataka

In response to the growing demand for online groceries, Flipkart has opened a new grocery fulfilment center in Hubli, Karnataka. Spread across 60,000 square feet, this facility is the third of its kind in the state, marking a significant step in expanding the company’s grocery delivery services. With a daily dispatch capacity of over 9,000 units, the center aims to serve customers across key areas like Ballari, Davanagere, Dharwad, Shivamogga, and South and North Goa.

According to Hari Kumar G, VP and head of grocery at Flipkart, the expansion in Hubli underscores the company's commitment to meeting the rising demand for online grocery shopping. "The region has been a strong growth driver for us, and we have witnessed a rising demand for online groceries among local consumers. With this launch, consumers will have access to a vast assortment of high-quality local selections at the right value being delivered to them the next day," said Kumar.

The new fulfilment center will help Flipkart address the 15% month-on-month growth in demand for groceries in the region. As quick commerce services remain unavailable in the area, the value-based selection of groceries delivered by Flipkart the next day is gaining popularity.

Beyond enhancing grocery delivery, the Hubli fulfilment center is set to positively impact local sellers, MSMEs, and farming communities. Flipkart’s commitment to creating livelihood opportunities for these groups is part of its larger strategy to foster economic growth in the regions it serves.
