UP tightens food safety rules: Masks, gloves, CCTVs mandatory at eateries

These measures follow a series of alarming food contamination incidents across India, including a recent case in Ghaziabad, where a shopkeeper was accused of serving juice tainted with urine. The Chief Minister stated that mixing human waste or other unsanitary materials with food is "appalling and intolerable" and promised strict penalties for violators.To further ensure compliance, joint teams from the Food Safety and Drug Administration, police, and local authorities will conduct regular inspections across the state. The initiative is part of a larger effort to tackle food safety violations and improve hygiene in Uttar Pradesh, especially in the wake of the controversy surrounding the Tirupati Laddu incident.

The Chief Minister emphasized that public health cannot be compromised and warned of severe penalties for those engaging in unhygienic practices or food contamination.
